Our Ancestors came from the San Joaquin Valley of California (Central Valley) before the contact of Spaniards and the Europeans. We inhabited the area from Bakerfield to the Sacramento Delta and between the Sierra on the east to the coastal mountains on the west.
During the late 1700s and 1800s hundreds until the mission were decommissioned, the Spaniard’s took us from the valley and forced us into the Mission (Oroysum [Fremont, California]) to build their churches. Due to the Spaniard’s were bringing in tribes from all over, this caused a marriage pattern with the Bay Area tribes.
Our complete ancestorial ties include such places as Manteca, Lathrop, Tracy, Ripon, Lodi, Stockton, Brentwood, Alameda, Pleasanton, Sunol, Union City, Fremont, etc. and with the conquest (Colonization) from the Europeans approximately 500 years ago, the tribes were affected once again. Soon after, the tribes were faced with signing treaties that were never ratified and to present day are forced into rancherias, which caused our tribes to be displaced from their homeland.
